About ADR
Association for Democratic Reform is a non-political, non-partisan group. Its charter is to improve the governance and strengthen democracy in India. It was founded by professors & alumni of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and the National Institute of Design.

Some accomplishments of ADR:
1. Public Interest Litigation filed by ADR in December 1999 culminated in a landmark Supreme Court Judgment on May 2, 2002. The judgment mandated complete asset, liability, educational qualifications and criminal records disclosures of all electoral candidates.
2. Gujarat Election Watch 2002: A panel of citizens headed by Justice B.J. Divan, former Chief Justice, Gujarat High Court invited information from citizens about criminal background of candidates contesting the elections. This information was scrutinized and compared with that provided by candidates in their nomination papers, and disseminated to the voters. The Election Watch Report showed that of the candidates contesting for 182 seats, 140 had a criminal record.
3. First National Workshop on Electoral Reforms and Right to Information held on May 10th and 11th.
